Why are East Coasters so soft?
lol, I'm in the Central time zone, and I crashed before some of the East Coasters. Not only that, but I went to bed before my kids.

Merry Christmas everyone. I leave shortly to go pick up my IrishLad. Then off to Grandpa's for a bit. Then over to Grandma's for the big Christmas. I really can't wait to be with my little man again. It's so much fun just being with family and friends for the season.

DD15 (who is special needs) just posted a FB status -
i'm having the best Christmas ever! i got leggings, breyer horses and riders... (list abbreviated) and i know a secret that i recently found out from my mom. i am shocked by it.
The secret? Is that Santa is not a real person who lives at the North Pole, but rather a spirit that lives in everyone who wants to bring joy to others.
Um, yes. She's 15. And yes, she just figured out about Santa. Mind you - people have been telling her for YEARS, some (cough - DS - cough) rather bluntly. She categorically refuted them all. Felt sorry for them and their lack of belief. Bless her heart full of conviction.
And then last night? She turned to me out of the blue and said, "It was you all along, wasn't it?" We talked for a long time, and in the end, she's excited to be "in" on The Secret. She wants to be a secret Santa for less fortunate kids next year. She's positively giddy about it.
Santa is dead. Long live Santa!

and speaking of fb statuses, ds18 decided he needed to immortalize my words from this morning -
ds18 - Can I open my stocking stocking stuffers before ds21 gets up?
me - We could always pound on his door and yell "Get the fuck up! Merry Christmas!"

Merry Christmas everyone!
I got in some exercise with the ride home last night. I love riding on xmas eve, seeing all the lights and dodging the frantic last-minute shoppers.
Spent a lovely couple of hours nestled into a massive old leather armchair by the window in the lounge of the old hotel, sipping vodka cocktails and having a nice chat with a friend.
Brunch in a couple of hours. It's a buffet. God help me.

Merry Christmas everyone! I'm watching John Wayne westernsj--how festive!
I have to go into work for a while--to get something out of the incubator; doesn't that just say 'holiday'?
Then I'm cooking myself a duck. I found out my sister and one of my brothers are also cooking duck. The other brother is wishing he had duck--we are such a weird family
Made it through all of the family calls this morning, except DS who is on a plane to NM to visit DDIL's family.
I hope everyone is warm and safe and happy.

Why have I never heard of butter rum? It sounds fabulous...somebody get something ready with that in it!
Put it in a crock pot and heat it up. Hot buttered rum is delicious.

Decorations are all put away. Tree is out on the porch. No, I'm not a Grinch. I'm just... done. And I have to be back at work tomorrow, so that's that for the holiday.
Dinner = left over steak and birthday cake. Mmm...
