Nahhh, here's the thing Unagie. As cool as everyone's occupation is, we're all still needed.
While I sit here and daydream what it would be like to be a marine biologist, (dolphins and whales only. No sharks.) there is a marine biologist somewhere in the world daydreaming about being a SAHM that homeschools their kids.
I'll never forget my first G2G. (It was small) The other 3 people there were fancy engineers that have traveled the world. Do you know how weird I felt saying, "Yeah, I'm a SAHM."??? But you know what, for as many cool life experiences they've had, I've had my own that I wouldn't trade for anything. And I guarantee you, none of them can make a pan of Trashy Brownies like I can. (No offense y'all)

I work for my wife and kids.
Right now they have me practicing law, but there are times that I get to sing, dance, act, and coach too. So it all balances out.

I wants some. That's true though. At my job no one could quite get a customer who was distraught to calm down quite as fast as I could. Mind you it was usually because I tried helping them with their issues and not selling them on another banking product they could not use. I intensely disliked the company I worked for but I love my job because on a good day I got to help people.

I'm a civil litigation attorney, handling mostly business and commercial cases. I love what I do, but as I'm sure wonderboy would confirm, it's not nearly as glamorous and exciting as TV and the movies try to make it appear.

I started out as a Marine Biologist...got the BS and MS degrees and even worked with whales in the Gulf of Maine for a bit.....then decided I could not take the vows of poverty needed to stay in the field, so I moved into bio-medicine....These days I spend a lot of days daydreaming of being a marine biologist again...sigh

And I am standing up and proudly representing the Blue Collar section of our family.
I am a "Property Manager", which is a very fancy term for "I take care of rich peoples houses." I clean their houses, mow the lawns, plow their snow, if some thing breaks I get it fixed.
Before that I was in the Air Force and was one of the first women to be trained for combat. Then into the LEO field and ended up in the training field.
I love my job. Rich people make me laugh

simplydevastated, there's nothing wrong with being in insurance, my father is a retired agent and my brother took over his agency. Being an insurance agent, my dad wasn't too thrilled the day I announced that I was applying to law school!

You do have a pretty serious talent for writing comedy. (Screchypants Whorebonked could totally be my ex by the way) and I hope that pans out for you.

thebighurts, OMG, I didn't think anyone over the age of say, 60, would know how to run one of those old antiques.
The one I ran is literally in a museum now. But 30+ years later, I could sit down in front of it and still run it. Of course I'd need to refresh my memory on the extensions... But yeah, I loved that job and I was *good* at it. Me and one other girl filled in for the regular operator for a week, switching mornings and afternoons. Busiest part of the day and I handled it like a pro. I was 15 at the time. I'd quit my current job in a heartbeat if I could get one running a switchboard again.
