Great news NIK!

Still no offers. Feedback has been positive overall. I think the price needs to be dropped about 10k and then it will go.

Me - happy!

Yay nik!!! I'm jealous about the inspection! I've shelled out around $1K plus I'm giving them my stainless fridge in exchange for items on the inspection - and still one item to fix.

Close on the sale of my home is 7/5 - close on the purchase of my new home is 7/16.

Gosh, I need to get packing!

Good sale mojo coming your way nutmeg!!! ((Hugs))

The rental home looked great, but there were 10 other families touring it the same day, so I have quite a bit of competition!

Looks like I'll be approved for the rental house! Now just have to come up with first month's rent + security deposit by Friday. Not sure how I'm gonna pull that one off!

What's new with everyone else?

Nutmeg - are you dropping the price again?

Forever - have you stopped snogging long enough to work on the house again, or are you still out of town?

Persevere - how's the packing going? Did you get the inspection report back on your new place?

IWS - What's new? Are you still considering changing agents?

Bittersweet news: I sold the house today!!!

Invested $$ in gorgeous flower arrangements, baked bread this morning, set the tables (both formal and informal)and trimmed the hedges in 99 degree heat yesterday!

Guess those were the last few items to push it over the top since I've purged, cleaned, etc until exhaustion!

I am shedding tears for the ending of this lifestyle for me. No more marriage, no more dreams in this house.

I have no idea where I am going and that is scary as hell.

Closing on Aug 17. Yikes, that's close.

Price will be dropped by 13k on Wednesday, and there will be an open house next Sunday. I am really hoping this next price drop does it.

It is a little scary, though, because there are very few choices out there for me to buy right now. I just have to remain calm and have faith that there will be something appropriate out there.

IWS - Congratulations. I understand the bittersweet part completely. Now that you've got a buyer, I hope you can find a new home for your new beginning.

Nutmeg - hope your price cut brings new interest in your place. And I hope something worthy comes up on the market for you soon.

nutmegkitty, the price dropping really sucks. We ended up $48k lower than where we started. INSANE. Last year it was taking over a year to sell houses in this neighborhood so I am thankful we did it in under 6 months....sacrifices had to be made though.

I hope your buyer is coming very, very soon!!

So, price was dropped and there was an open house on Sunday. Only two couples came. The wife of one couple just sent her feedback and she really liked the place. They have a condo to sell first.

I'll admit, I did cry a little when I found out only two couples came. I really thought that with the big price drop that there would be more interest. I got my hopes up I guess.

Just feeling defeated.

But, I'm putting on my big girl panties and trying to keep on the brave face.

Good luck nutmeg!!!

I have been in closing limbo for almost three weeks. We were supposed to close on the sale of my house on 7/5, but due to IRS bureacracy for a simple transciption verification document, for the buyer, we're stuck. It's very frustrating. Hope to know today if we will close this week. Then I can close on buying my new house.

The delay is also making it hard to plan for movers, especially around the busiest moving time of the year!

But it's all going to work out and I should be in my new house within the next 5-10 days.

So, the price has been dropped again. Now, it's 30k under the appraised value.

We did get an offer from the woman who saw it when it first went on, the one who had 21 acres in the western part of the state to sell first. Her offer, while full price, is contingent on her land selling.

There is a showing tonight and another one tomorrow. If we do not get any offers by end of next week the price will be dropped anther 15K, which will bring us into a new range on the search criteria.

I am feeling a tiny glimmer of hope that it will go soon.

Whoa! Zombie thread - back from the dead.

Nutmeg - I'm back on the market again with you. My buyer couldn't sell their place, so the offer fell through. Rassafrassin mothertruckin jerkybutts.

The house has been sitting on contingency for 2.5 months, and now I'm back to square one.

The realtor thinks we're priced right. They're going to stage it (as it's currently empty), re-introduce it to brokers next week, and do an open-house. If we don't get a bite in a few weeks, I'll be cutting the price to try to spark interest before the fall market dries up.

Fingers crossed for you, nutmeg.

Hi all

Re-awakening this old thread....

Hope everyone has now finished and sold their houses in here and moved on to pastures new!

I've finished work for a while and need to get on and finish the house but need some significant motivation.

It's not been touched since the big push last year as I've been away so much trying to dig my way out of debt.

Picked up a second hand bed today for the master bedroom as I can't stand to move back in there on the bed that's there still, I've moved that one into the spare room (DD's old room) for now along with all the furniture so the master bedroom is a clean slate.

Got my grandparents old carpet for now to put down in there to cover the floorboards for now until all the building work is finished in the main bathroom and ensuite at which time ill have all new matching carpets on the hall, landing and stairs fitted.

That will signal the end of the work inside the house hopefully! Then on to the outside and landscaping!!!!

I've been home a week having escaped from the locality for Christmas and new year as I couldn't face it anywhere near here, my family took that a bit hard but understood.

Problem now is after 6 months of not living in the house as I've been in B&Bs with work and at my parents at the weekends, I just don't want to go back there anymore. That makes motivating me to get it finished really hard!!!!

Oh well, going to try and suck it up tomorrow and spend the day up there with dad fitting the carpet, refitting the TV in the lounge and my new one for the bedroom and making the new (old) bed ready to sleep there in the evening possible, unless I chicken out once again!!!

I didn't look at all of the nine pages of this thread but I too have a house for sale.

It is because I finally have discharged my daughter and son-in-law to live on their own for once. I paid a hefty price to get them out, but I think it will be worth it in the long run, with them finally being able to sink or swim and me being able to sell the house and help pay down the debt on my STBXWW's house....

My problem is this house is 250 miles away from where I live. And it's in bad shape. It is not going to be pleasant getting it sold, but why not give it a try???

Double zombie thread!

Glad to see you back again, forever. And it sounds like you are very close to closing the chapter on that house. Cheering you on from the sidelines!

pointmagnet - sending you house mojo.

rising - It is overwhelming. The great part is, once you pick up momentum, you'll just keep rolling.

I'm back on the market (my listing expired in November), and there's a couple wanting to make an offer, but their agent is advising them to wait until they can get their house on the market around the beginning of February. At the same time, the mortagage company has started the foreclosure clock, so things are down to the wire.

If I get an offer, the foreclosure stuff goes on hold. It's all a matter of timing at this point, and it's utterly out of my control. Still showing the house, still actively marketing it, but otherwise? I'm on the sidelines with my popcorn, just waiting for the ending and not knowing which way it will turn out.

Fingers crossed.

NIK, do they know you're looking at foreclosure? Will that mean lowball offers?
