new life... So sorry about your potential break up from your SO. This has got to be a difficult time for something like that to happen.
But I’m even more sorry about your father‘s death, and about the anniversary of his death coinciding with such big challenges and concerns.
Lots of prayers your way.
Musiclovingmom... Sounds like you all had a really challenging day. I’m just so happy that you’re home. And safe. I can’t for the life of me figure out why we do not just shut down our country (talking about the US) for two or three weeks everywhere… And do a reboot. I know I would be at home with my kids unless I felt totally safe about whatever plan their school system had.
The difficulties just seem to keep on coming, don’t they?
Y’all be careful out there!

BTW...tush -
No, to answer your question, I did not have the shingles vaccination nor have I ever. I’m pretty weird about vaccinations. When my kids were little I didn’t give them all of their vaccinations. Especially pertussis. Even my pediatrician agreed with me about that one.
And we also don’t get flu shots. I wonder if we’re going to need to revisit that this fall. But… I am one of the most careful people I know, so I am feeling hopeful about not getting the flu this year.
My husband doesn’t get the vaccinations or flu shots either. I feel really conflicted about it. We have to be so careful with him because of his disability and poor health, but he and I are in the camp where we are a little concerned about immunizations.
I know that sounds ridiculous in this day and time, and feel free to fuss at me.

Whatsright, one of the sickest times in my life was when I took a flu shot. I was down totally for three weeks with the Flu. Horribly sick. I haven't taken another one since then. I guess everyone's body is different and reacts differently.

I had flu three times, two of them in one flu season. Sick as I have ever been. Since then, I've gotten a flu shot every year and never a problem from them nor have I had it again.
I'm sorry you have had a problem after getting a shot. My sister did also, but I think she was already exposed and it was coincidence, as she worked in the local hospital which was rife with it.

So...Monday morning health check.
How is everybody doing out there?
We are hanging in there. Based on how so many idiots in my state are acting at the incompetent governor’s leadership, I have resumed my hoarding of food and supplies. Never thought I would be one of those.
What about the rest of you??? Pls stay safe!!!

I'm hoarding some things, including Dr. Pepper. I'm fortunate that I have three wonderful neighbors with great vegetable gardens! Loving the fresh, steamed veggies! And vegetable soup using the fresh veggies. Schools are starting here then promptly shutting down after many positive tests. Students AND teachers. People just do not get it. I know they WANT to go, want things to be normal ... but it's not. I want so badly to get in my car and take a road trip somewhere but know I can't. I would love to go to St. Louis to see relatives -- or down to Houston -- but know it's not safe. I really miss PEOPLE. If my doggies could talk, it sure would help.

Jeaniegirl I'm jonesing for a road trip myself but I live in a beautiful place already so I'm staying put for now.
I'm an introverted single person, but I'm missing company, would love to have a playmate to do stuff with. Most of my friends are couples who are out doing coupl-ey things like getting camper vans and puppies and stuff and going on amazing staycations. It's all very instagram-worthy. I've had to put most of them on snooze because they're giving me FOMO.
I actually caught myself looking online at used vans, but being an old lady I really don't need to be dealing with mechanics who jack up the rates as soon as they see me coming (I haven't had a car in years, just the thought gives me a panic attack...). If I win the lottery I'm getting a brand new RV. And maybe a puppy...

All still good at my house, thankfully. I have been "stocking up" on non-perishables, too. At my age, and alone, (no way I can see the future to know I won't *need* it all if we have a lockdown again) I have been as pro-active as I can afford.
Should only need fresh items, like milk, bread, fruit and veggies.
Extended family have sent or are sending children from preschool to college to schools open for in-person classes. Fingers crossed that those schools have a better handle on how the rules are followed than all those, like UNC Chapel Hill in the news today. I don't want to see anyone get sick; students, teachers, family at home, or any others involved.
Others will be doing online only. May not be as good for many or most, but no big parties to spread the pandemic, at least.

Faithfool, I hear you. I found myself a little envious reading about Tushnurse and her H -- their camper and going away. I confess I started looking online at campers and small motor homes.
It sounded like so much fun! But I'm glad 'people have people' and like you, I don't feel the need to have someone close ALL the time, but I miss my friends and family. My road trips have always been important to me. The Canadian border shutting down is so sad to me as that was my main 'go to' place. I can't help but wonder if we'll ever get the freedom to travel back completely.

But if you look at those mini motor homes.... some are SO luxury-filled.
I was intrigued until I got to the part about Onan generators and hooking things up and compost toilers and well, sounded like too much work.

I know right? "Black water" is not anything I ever care to deal with...
I used to just have a beat up old Econoline with a bed in the back. That and a camp stove got me down the coast to LA and back when I was young and stupid.

The Econoline would be worth something if you still had it.
Maybe by this time next year things will start to return to normal. I sure hope so. Although I've taken lots of road trips in the winter too.
Whatsright, thanks for this thread. It's a great way to have everyone touch base. I hope Dragn is okay, miss her animal posts and adventures.

Today was our 7th school day with students. We had our first “virtual” staff meeting since we got students back virtually. My colleagues look exhausted - even more so than normal. And many of them cried at some point. In fact, I don’t think we have had a staff meeting since March where someone wasn’t in tears. We are all realizing that we are much better at communicating with 20ish kids daily than we are at communicating with 20ish parents daily. I’m part time music and part time aide and even I have fielded parent phone calls. But, somehow, even in this crazy time, we are celebrating student successes and perseverance and community building. But boy am I tired.

Jeaniegirl I'm jonesing for a road trip myself
me three!
But I also live in a nice place (tourists come here to visit), so like FF I'm getting along here.
Health-wise: the 'BORING' part is no change: DS1 is ok (and still has a job, which is good since the UK is ending it's furlough scheme), DS2 is ok, and I am ok. Thank goodness that we are all safe.
The FANTASTIC part is DS3, who has covid-19, is doing MUCH better. I posted an update on my thread about him, but (briefly): no cough or other symptoms besides feeling weak and tired, and off all covid meds now. Yay!!
STAY SAFE!!

Oh, crap.
In my recent “down” state, I forgot all about checking in on everyone!
We’re still doing OK here. Within about six weeks of having my husband completely off his opioid painkillers!!! He has a new wheelchair being made as we speak. That should make him really happy!
I continue to have an itty bitty scare every now and then… Like this morning with a few tenths of degrees fever. I can tell it’s the start of a sinus infection, so I started gargling with salt water and putting saline up my nose. I’ll be fine.
How is everyone doing? Please stop by and check in so we can know how you are.

Well I'd be ok if my upper eye lids werent swollen with blisters and peeling skin. Makes me wonder if I got poison ivy or something. My right eye is finally open a bit more but the itch and burning isnt fun at all!!!
Wh the kids and I got alot accomplished over the weekend. Fences up etc.
The thing is working with wh is mentally exhausting. Hes mean. He was angry that he went up to finish the roof on the new horse shelter when he hates heights BUT I had said I'd go up there but he wouldn't let me. I of course wouldnt have done as good a job as him so
I would have needed help yes! 12 foot sheets of metal roofing are heavy but I could have been up there and screwing them all in... whatever...
It does take me time to mentally recover from a full weekend of listening to wh bitch and be verbally nasty.
His anxiety is no excuse to be mean and I made that clear to him. Any time he opened his mouth to be mean I walked away. If he was on the roof at the time so be it lol. I wasnt going to be abused by him.

Good news, no covid symptoms and numbers are getting lower here, making me hopeful that the September 5th wedding (outside, social distancing and masks)will have attendees. I'm prepping for 125+ and may wind up with 25. It's all good.
The bad news is that the injectable medication that has been miraculous for my headaches seems to have lost its effectiveness. I'm tweaking other meds with my doctor's guidance but wound up at urgent care for a steroid burst. Of course that's accompanied by hurting tummy and grouchiness. And to boot, I had my eyes dilated at the eye doctor which doesn't help anything. It was necessary It's been over a year.
But my eyes are healthy, the rest of me is, too, these headaches are certainly not life threatening so I'm blessed.
Me-BS-71 in May HIM-SAFWH-74 I just wanted a normal life.Normal trauma would have been appreciated.
