When your folks didn't want you to wear out the color television with Saturday morning cartoons, so the first few years of your life, you thought Scooby Doo was grey.

Sal, I can so identify with #1-5 and #7. But #4, well my 50th is next year so I'm more than halfway there. Holy crap, when did I get so close to half a century?

And I too have seen fashion trends come around again, like tie-dye and bell-bottoms. Remember those?

Also, you may be getting old if you remember "Valleyspeak".That was, like, totally radical, dude.

You've seen clothing fads come back around... twice.

I'm still young then, I've only seen togas come around once.

Wow. That's sobering.

The rest of this thread is funny as hell, though!!!

An "all-nighter" means you don't have to get up to pee.

Was at the pub last night with a young friend from my history class (she is *22*, whip-smart and adorable).

Her eyes got bigger and bigger when I told her abut my two years in a log cabin with no toilet, water, phone, TV, wi-fi or power.

I did have a transistor radio that picked up a signal from Spokane at night if the wind was right... Heard Linda Ronstadt singing Blue Bayou on it for the first time and remember being blown away by that song.

We had to truck water down from the creek in giant jugs on a toboggan and cook on a huge old wood stove from 1890-something.

We had a sauna and a cellar full of apple cider from the orchard that we juiced with a hand-cranked cider press.

We had a lot of parties and played music all the time. With instruments.

Best two years of my life.

She said "You were a hippie, weren't you?"

Now if you'll excuse me I have to go catch up on some Frasier reruns....

When you think of the sock hop dances they had in the eighties, and then you realize we are as far from the eighties now as the eighties were from the sock hop era.

And also when you're talking to your kids about going to see the new smurfs movie and you mention you haven't seen the first one much to their shock and dismay. So you say the only smurfs you're familiar with is the ones from the cartoon you watched when you were a kid. DD asks, "In black and white?"

A new vacuum at 40 is equal to a pony at 10.

I'm with unfound on that one!

...not to mention how excited you get over a new roof at 40+ ...kind of equivalent to your first car?

What consistently makes me feel like I may be getting "old" (beyond the mirror & you know, pain) is I'm blown away by computer memory. I feel like Dr. Evil waking up to mind-boggling changes.

Two weeks ago I picked up a new external hard drive for $59.99. A 1 TB HD.!!!

I still remember upgrading the RAM in our first computer. I got 1 MB for $100.

You can't fill a cup with no bottom.

- You remember Pong, Astroids, and Defender.

- Couldn't play video games all day cause they were $0.25 a pop!

- Muscle cars didn't have air conditioning and gas mileage was single digit.

- 7-11 stores were open from 7 to 11! Nothing was open 24 hours.

- If you were going to the bathroom you did not answer the phone.

If there is reincarnation I hope OM comes back as a low water flush truck stop toilet!
