Yep jrc, squeeze bottle is same brand and everything. It just uses force. It actually feels really good for me (when my sinuses are really bad). Even if it doesn't alleviate the problem, it can provide some temporary relief.

What's nice about it is that you have zero side effects (well, maybe a runny nose for a bit), can use as needed, and it is effective whether you're clogged up with mucus or your sinus tissue is just swollen and painful.

Make sure that you used distilled water or use their pre-mixed packets (or make your own). There have been a few cases (very few) of people getting bacterial infections from using untreated tap water.

Just to clarify: You can use distilled water. Or you can use water you boiled yourself.

You can use the premixed packets of salt, or you can use your own salt.

Please don't use tap water you haven't boiled.

If you google "netti pot amoeba" you get a news story with this title: Tap water in neti pots behind two brain-eating amoeba deaths in 2011, investigation finds

This is not an argument against them, just a caution to do it right. I use the squeeze bottle version and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Take care of yourself. There's a great future out there. It won't come to you; you have to go to it.

I just started using a Neti pot and I'm really liking it. Since I started, I've only had to use one sinus pill and that's waaay down for me!

I bought a kit and it came with a canister of salt (and measuring spoon) and Neti-Wash+. I'm one of those gotta have a routine in the morning ladies, so I put a blank filter in my K-Kup coffee maker, and get my boiled hot tap water that way run 2 C of hot water through that into a 2C glass measuring cup and wait for it to cool a bit before I use the pot. Just started experimenting with running some of the mixture from my nose to the back of my throat to clear those passages as well. Guess I'm a bit of a freak, because I only use about 3 tissues to blow out my nose afterwards. Darned good blows, though.

I'm a-hoping that you doctor types are going to tell me that using the Krup is good enough because I was a total failure at boiling water! Damned near scalded me and the cat trying to get that to work!

I've used a neti, before, but don't do it consistently. I would probably get more of a benefit, if I did it regularly (I have asthma).

I saw an ENT 9 years ago after suffering a number of sinus infections in a short time. I got the recommended squeeze bottle type from his office that came with a few packets to use with it.

His written instructions were to make my own after they were gone by mixing 1/8 tsp each of baking soda and salt. (Unspecified as to any particular kind, so I just use table salt.)

He also prescribed some nasal sprays and Nexium. He said many, if not most, sinus infections come from acid reflux.

Once I got rid of the sinus drainage, I haven't had a sinus infection since. I use the nasal rinses as needed and that keeps me clear. No more sprays needed after the one prescription, but I still take Nexium, only as needed.

I am a pot user

I mean versus the squeeze bottle, of course!

I am not a daily user just when my sinuses are acting up. I definitely see a difference.

I use over the bathroom sink but never had any issues with mega mess, I just have some tissue there and I am good to go.

My pot came with those individual powder packs to use each time - never had any issues with burning, etc.

Despite warnings - I am probably at risk for brain-eating germs since I have never used distilled or boiled water (and I have well water). Pause....for all to cringe.

Ok - ok....maybe I will start using distilled! I actually have it in the house anyway for my floor steam cleaner.

I love mine when I'm super congested. Best time to use it is the moment you wake up and all that nasty gunk has been laying dormant on a horizontal plain...cause the second you go vertical.....it will try fleeing south to your lungs....best thing to do is use it immediately and it will flush as much out as possible! I have had great results!!!

And, I admit it...I use luke warm tap water....::double cringe for all:: but its more laziness and cheapness that I don't buy the bottled kind often. But, I've been doing it for years and I'm still alive....so might not be SO bad!

The first time I used a neti pot I watched a Youtube video, which actually helped me figure out the angle I needed to hold my head, etc.

It definitely makes a difference for me. Every cold I get goes straight to my sinuses, an when I use the neti pot it doesn't last as long.

As for water - I just boil the kettle in the morning and fill a big mason jar of water to use throughout the day. I think the reason some experts advise against using table salt is that it is usually iodized and the iodine can burn a bit.

Go for it!

I haven't used one in a while, but was an avid user when I suffered from sinus infections. It really helped when I thought I was going to lose my mind from the pain and inability to breath through my nose.

I like the actual pots compared to the squeeze bottles. The bottles are easier, but the water would get into my ear tubes, making it really uncomfortable.

Also, make sure to boil first if you use tap water. It's safer to used distilled though.

My family all use neti's.

Sinus. Allergy. Cold. Congestion.

Another benefit not mentioned: better smelling and tasting breath.

We even have plastic travel ones. Go neti!

Yes, the amoebas are very bad. So, always distilled water.

I haven't had the guts for the Neti Pot, yet, but I love what saline spray does for me.

In most locales, tap water is probably harmless because it's been treated enough that stuff doesn't live in it and the amount of salt you use will take care of the rest. Using well water in other areas can make the neti pot pretty dangerous unless the water is boiled for 10 minutes.
