Should husbands express weakness to their wives?

Men express weakness to those they trust. It could be a best friend, therapist and yes it could be your wife. There is nothing toxic about not wanting to get run over.

In your case you expressed weakness (vulnerability) and she was more concerned with the AP's pain. You expressed how the affair hurt you and she, along with the MC, blameshifted the affair to you.

The short answer is, it is situational. In your situation, the answer is no.

Yes, expressing weakness/vulnerability to a fully formed adult is fine. How many waywards fit that definition? My STBXWW treated me with utter contempt whenever I was sick or injured, much like reaching for a chisel, only to discover it is dull and you must sharpen it. Many waywards see relationships as transactional, and when you are not at 100%, you have a depreciated exchange value to them. Yup, waywards are a different kinda suck.

I'm an oulier in my positions.

Me:57 STBXWW:55 DD#1: false confession of EA Dec. 2016. False R for a year.DD#2: confessed to year long PA Dec. 2 2017 (was about to be outed)Called it off and filed. Denied having an affair in court papers.

I don't know if you are still visiting this site, but your journey was one I kept following. How are you doing? Has there been further progress out of infidelity?
