For the record,

program does exist out there called war dialers. They call and call and try every possible combination

I'm still confused - If I have Verizon I have to know the region and also have to know his password?

Am I thinking correctly?

With War Dialing - Is there any way of tracking this back to the person using it?

Yes ,you're right....it is now T mobile.....I got the back door # for voicemail....works like a charm, except I am still working on figuring out what the password is.

sorry, never heard of us cellular......look through the links posted in this thread and the voicemail thread....there is one that has a list of all the cell carriers and their backdoor procedures

Hey! That second link is my post! How funny.

Yes, that key combo will return the VM retrieval number that's programmed into the Cingular phone it's used on. But it only works from THAT phone. If that same number is dialed manually without the area code, it can be used as a backdoor "deposit" (not retrieval) to another phone. Not extremely useful.

At least that's how it works for me.
