I put butter on sandwiched that get butter such as frilled cheese
Is that like, really fancy cheese? I've never had frilled cheese before. Do you get that at a gourmet store?

HFS... I was wondering what a Frilled Cheese was too...
I thought maybe the sandwich was shaped like a doily

I use butter for grilled cheese, PB&J, and leftover Thanksgiving turkey sandwiches. Almost all other sandwiches require mayo.
No Miracle Whip, either. It's just not the same as mayo.

Losfer - I KNEW we'd eventually agree on something! You get an "Amen" on mayo from me.

Miracle Whip is so much BETTER than mayo.

See, the problem is that ALL of y'all are doing it wrong.
There is no "jelly side" if you make a PB&J properly. We mix the peanut butter and jelly and then glop it on the bread. You can get more of the good stuff that way.
I will say that I think I'm the only person who does this though. I've never met anyone else who mixes before spreading.

Aw hell! I did say that. Now I gotta come up with a frilled cheese sandwich design. And I can't even blame my i-Phone autocorrect for that one. I wrote it on my computer.
I agree with you jrc - Miracle Whip is way better than Mayo.

Did anyone else grow up eating "ham buns"? Basically a ham and butter sandwich on a dinner roll. It's about equal parts ham and butter (or rather margarine).
My mom used to wrap them in tinfoil. I don't know why, since we ate them cold.

Nope, but I do like the BBQ pork buns on the Dim Sum menu. They are kinda like Boston Creme made with a bun instead of a donut, and filled with BBQ pork instead of creme, and without the chocolate because I am sure even the wimmenz will agree that chocolate would be inappropriate.

What's inappropriate is bringing up donuts, even indirectly, without having any to share.

Mmmmm baozi.
Trader Joes actually sells a decent frozen baozi, Aesir.
PS in China they're street food and often eaten for breakfast!

The only time we ever put butter on a sandwich was for a tomato sandwich. Basically just bread, butter and slices of tomato with salt.
I thought it was weird the first time I saw my mom make one, but I have to admit, I love them.

I toast the bread for almost all sandwiches I make and since you don't have toast without butter.....
I do butter the sandwich.

Oh gosh I have a semi funny story about butter on a sandwich. I don't eat mayo, mustard or miracle whip. I love butter on a sandwich. We went to this great Italian deli and I ordered salami, prosciutto and provolone with lettuce on a hero. Then I said I wanted butter on it. The following is what happened (you must imagine this in a NY Italian accent):
Deli worker 1: Butter!? Butter? Do we have butter?
Deli worker 2: what do you need butter for?
Deli worker 1: she wants it on her sandwich. She wants butter!
Deli worker 2: Butter!? Butter!?
Deli worker 3: (coming out from the back) What's going on?
Deli worker 1: She wants butter on her sandwich!
Deli worker 3: Butter!?
At this point according to SO I was hiding behind him, cheeks bright red. He asked if they had pesto, which they did and thus my love of pesto on a sandwich was born. I was teased mercilessly by SO and his cousin saying butter with bad imitation accents...sigh.
