OK. Just curious SI because my furbaby is such an important part of my life, which best describes you, cat person, dog person, other (specific). And if you have pet(s), what's their name(s)?

I'm mainly a cat person, but I love all animals. Just always had cats and lived in cat friendly places. I currently have a 2 yr old rescue kitty named... ready for it...? Cinnamon! She's a total love bug! Sweetest kitty I've ever had!

I'm definitely a dog person, but its not so much that I dislike cats, its just I'm allergic to them.

I'm an animal person. At one time or another I've had as many as 3 dogs, 6 parrots, an iguana, 2 sugar gliders, 4 guinea pigs, one cat and untold numbers of fish, both fresh and saltwater.

I've always been more of a dog person, but that's situational. My father didn't like cats, so we never had them as kids. I inherited my only cat from the X's family after we married. I just seem to live with dog people.

I'm a catdog person.

I have an Australian Cattle Dog (Smokey-my baby) and my fiance has a black lab (Ember-my girlfriend!), and his mother has 9 cats, including Fluffy-the-greatest-cat-in-the-entire-world.

I love animals. I'm allergic to cats, but I can't stay away from them. Especially Fluffy, who is like a kittydog--he comes when he's called, and he's always so excited to see me. I'm his human, I guess.

I'm hoping his mother will let us take Fluffy when we move to FL...because the dogs will be staying with our parents. Smokey and my dad have a bond that would break both of their hearts if I tried to separate them. And our apartment only allows pets up to 30 lbs. Ember's too big.

Oh Lord, I'm a mega-pet-person. I currently have 3 dogs, a bunny, parakeets, and more freshwater aquariums than I can count. Yes, I live in a zoo, and I'm the curator!

I have also had a prairie dog, guinea pig, hamsters and cats. My current dogs are not "cat friendly", so after my cats lived out their natural lives, I didn't get any more cats.

We love both cats and dogs, but as a family have only had cats so far. We have two wonderful cats. A week from today we get our chocolate lab puppy!!

Then I am suspecting my kitties will pack their things and move out in protest.

I am definitely a dogcat person. Dogs first and foremost and we have a funny border collie/lab cross who makes me laugh every day and is utterly amazing with my two year old daughter.

My last cat was a true companion through a lot of sad and hard times and when he died I just knew I probably would never get a cat again. That was in 2006 and I haven't felt differently yet.

Meta, please post pics when you get your new baby. I love lab puppies!

As for me, I love, love, love dogs. Can't stand cats which is fine because I'm severely allergic to them.

No one changes unless they want to. Not if you beg them. Not if you shame them. Not if you use reason, emotion, or tough love. There is only one thing that makes someone change: their own realization that they need to.

I am an animal person.

Currently at my lowest level of pets since the kids were little.

We have a Black Lab who is quite possibly the smartest dog I have ever owned, Lucy.

We have a rescue kitty, who is also all black, Minnie (when we got her she was almost 7 months old and only weighed 5 pounds, who knew with good nutrition, and a good home she would no longer be a minnie, currently she tops the scale at an even 10 pounds).

And last but certainly not least we have Paul the Pig. He is a Guinea Pig, and we got him for my daughter, but he is really my pet. He goes crazy when he hears me walk into the house, open the fridge or talk in the kitchen, I am the goodie lady. These little guys are fun pets, and good garbage eaters. He gets all the scraps of veggies when I cook, and rarely will turn down any of them.

In the Past we have had as many as 3 LARGE dogs, 2 cats, and a Leopard Gecko. We suffered the loss of my Dane - Gracie, my Golden - Harry, and my Maine Coon mut kitty - Moe all last year.

The kids are teens and will soon be off to college, and I want to be able to pick up and go so we are not replacing the dogs, my Lab is only 3, so I suspect she will be around for quite some time.

I love my furfamily.

Animal person? Ya understatement

When I was in school a fellow classmate wrote a poem about the class. When he got to me he said:

" and then there's Dragnheart, the only person I know who would jump in front of a Mac truck to save a snail"

Not entirely true! Although I did park my car across the highway when my dog got out as a Mac truck headed towards him. He jumped in the car and I drove off the road before any crashes lol

As for what type of animal person I am...I like dogs and cats and anything else with fur, however my LOVE is for monitors. Large, nasty monitors. Waters, niles, sav's. Wh and I met because of a shared love of reptiles/exotics (and at the time he was breeding hedgehogs which I wanted) so having been told to talk to him I did...the rest is history.

our collection was almost complete when the inlaws kicked us out (FIL was also into it all) so we sold or re-homed most of our animals. We still have some. The ones that mean the most to us.

I also love fish. Guppies inparticular. My father used to have many aquariums and bred fish.

I'm an animal person, the larger the better. We have a dog (Pookie) and two stray cats (Zoe and Midnight) who've chosen us, and I have a betta fish (Buddha) in my office who has been my cowriter for almost four years now. I only started keeping bettas in 2000, and discovered I really kind of like them. My husband and kids try large aquariums every few years, but when the fish eventually die we don't replace them for a while. I have to say I'm not a fan.

I'd like horses again, and I want to move out to the country ASAP (we're working on this) so I can finally get a goat. I'd also like to have an alpaca, and these two animals mean I'd need to get an Great Pyrenees dog and probably a saddle so I could ride the fencelines on the dog.

I've considered guinea pigs before, but I can't trust the cats at all. I can't stand the thought of birds being kept, even though I grew up part-time with many of them in a culture where this was nearly expected of each family. I always felt bad for the birds.

Oh! and I forgot the donkey. I want a donkey. I'm going to name it Xote.

I tend to be a cat person, but our little toy poodle has caught my heart. I like dogs, but on a visitation basis.

We have a cat, TC (the cat). He's about five and the king of the house. Then the dog, Chip, he's nearly 2. Recently we acquired a kitten that I rescued off of the road. We were going to give her away, but once we found a potential home, suddenly MrH changed his mind. We named her Millie, DS is thrilled because its short for Amelia (think Doctor Who's Amy Pond).

She's been the perfect addition to our family, bringing the kitten back into TC at times and giving Chip a playmate nearly his size.

I'd describe myself as a crazy dog lady, though I love all animals. A house is not a home for me without a dog (preferably >1) to meet me at the door, warn me of impending squirrel assaults on the property, etc.

When we finally got out of the moving every 18 months game, our menagerie expanded to include a small gaggle of Nigerian Dwarf goats, which are about the size of a Labrador Retriever. Their "job" here is brush control...

We have two Labs and a Pembroke Welsh Corgi who rules the roost. They go by a lot of names, but I'll identify each of them by one of their nicknames: Shameless, Lumpy, and Doodoo.

edited to add: Meta, I soooooo envy you getting a Lab puppy...I can almost smell the puppy breath!
