I need good thoughts and prayers tomorrow (if you pray). One of my goals before the A was to get my doctorate degree in nursing. After his A, my drive to get it went out the window. I could barely breath, much less think of returning to school. Two years ago, things feel into place and I started back to school very quickly. Tomorrow I defend my project. If I am successful tomorrow I have accomplished my goal and will be Dr. brkn_heartd.
I am excited because the A did not keep this from me. My H has been VERY supportive with school and helping me heal from the A. I was able to overcome the challenges of the A/school and get finished. Very few people know of the A so they do not know the additional struggles I have had during school.
But I am almost FINISHED!

Thank you to everyone. In all honesty many times I would waiver in a lot of areas of my life (school included) and the support from this website kept me going. I appreciate the support over the last three years! It certainly helped me from letting the A win.

CONGRATULATIONS! As someone who was in the middle of the same process during my ex's many affairs let me say, "WHOO HOO" 
Tell me--after you were finished defending did they send you out of the room and then when you came back in were they all smiling like their faces would break and saying "Congratulations Dr.brkn_heartd?????"

The dean of my nursing school strongly believed that even bedside nurses should be as educated as the physicians who care for patients. He succeeded in ensuring that the BSN was the lowest level of prep for nurses at that institution; they are just now starting to require Masters prep for bedside nurses. There were huge obstacles to this--namely, it's kind of hard to convince someone remunerated so very much less than a physician to invest in a similar education. But with the changes that are rolling out, I think the nurse's role is going to expand even more. (And they DO make it financially worthwhile.)
I am so glad you have earned your doctorate. You will go far.
