Because of the weather schools were closed for today and tomorrow. I work for a local intermediate school district!

That's after a 17 day Christmas break.

I love snow days!!

Anyone else have today off??

What are your plans?

I am doing my post divorce to do list. Thinking I may venture out to get some Chinese I have been craving.:0)

Hot yoga sounds PERFECT except for one small thing - I'd have to go outside to get there.

just notified that school will be closed tomorrow due to extreme temperatures.

They've been off since Dec 13th . But then again, so have I .

Still, it's time for them to go back. Seriously.

Same here the district just added a second day (off since Dec 21) due to the cold! So far I got up late and I've moved back and forth from the couch (reading SI) to kitchen and then reverse the order. I've had so many long months working 5 different jobs this feels pretty good. I do have to work one of my jobs tomorrow for a few hours. After that I'll return home and hunker down. Good news though 35 is expected on Friday. Whoo Hoo a heat wave!!

Yah my kids had a full 2 week Xmas break, and now it's probably going to be a full 3 week break.

We had a foot of snow, the major roads are still bad, so that means the rural ones where we live are really bad and no school tomorrow, and then tomorrow night we are supposed to get another 2" snow, so no school Thursday, or probably Friday.

They are bored, and tired of being around each other.

Buses were cancelled here today but schools were open. Everyone I know kept their kids home though because it was -37 with the wind chill. The wind was up to 100km/hr in gusts and we've had white out conditions since about 2pm. It's nuts.

Our district doesn't make the call to close buses or schools until 6am so I won't know if the kids have school until we get up tomorrow. I think it's supposed to stop sometime tonight, but we weren't supposed to get it this bad and it shifted so I guess we will wait and see.

Go softly my sweet friend. You will always be a part of who I am.

Meta... It makes no sense to wait until the morning of to cancel school... but as I recall that's how it worked in Michigan when I lived there.

We generally only cancel down here for Hurricanes and we have a bit of warning before they get here...

I went thru one school year where we had two hurricanes back to back and ended up with like a month off.

Our kids are still out tomorrow and I wouldn't be surprised if they're out until next week. One of the roads that goes right past the middle/high school is impassable still (cars are stuck in drifts). We're supposed to get another 1/2-1 inch tomorrow My boss was less than pleased that I'm not making the trip tomorrow, but I offered to work from home...she is allowing me to work a 1/2 day. Sorry, but my job isn't so important that I need to drive an hour in this crap, to sit at my desk and do nothing (because my job relies heavily on the schools being open) for 8 hours. I can do that from the comfort of my home
