Another "time for a change" post!

I need a change. In lieu of chopping off my hair, I think I'm going to dye it. I'm thinking of doing it at home. I love my stylist but she's a little expensive.

I super hate my gross hair in this picture but it kind of give you an idea of my coloring.

I don't really want to do blonde. Upkeep is hard, it washes me out, and I just don't feel like myself with blonde hair. But any other color recommendations with bonus points for haircolor brand would be greatly appreciated!

My natural color is very similar to yours. I use Loreal Feria Medium Golden Brown in the winter and Light Golden Brown in the summer.

It has "multifaceted" highlights built in... or so it says. I really like the way my hair turns out with it.

Well darn. This is a legit serious question. I was going to vote cotton candy pink. Cause I'm feeling a wee bit rebellious this week.

Have you ever gone dark? I like being dark. I was dark for the past 6 or 7 years. My natural color is like yours and I just did a medium color with more red tones. But I have it done professionally because I have no skillz with the hair color.

Dark is certainly easier to come back from than light (no bleach).

I've had everything from blonde to almost black. I had really pretty blonde highlights this summer, I got a lot of compliments on them, but they just don't feel like me.

I would maybe go for a richer, deeper (but not too much darker) color. I bet it would be striking. You're right, a lighter color would wash you out.

I do my own color at home and always get a lot of compliments. I buy it from Sally and think the line is called Age Beautiful(?). I use demi-permanent colors so I get the richness without color build-up. It's gentle and slowly washes out, so you get some dimension.

Another bonus of buying individual colors (buy a bottle of developer separately) is that you can mix different shades and tones to customize your color based on your natural color. My natural hair color is brunette with red undertones, so I use cooler shades to tone it down.

I started by asking the ladies that work there and then playing around with it. Now I have my exact formula and love it. It's also super easy on my budget.

A pretty brown red with caramel highlights might be nice.

Or just go straight red head! You have nice coloring for it!

I would do some highlights of a carmelly to golden color. You have naturally dark eyes, and brows like me, and it really does help to not make it too light, and unnatural looking, or needing to color the brows with it.

Spring is around the corner, so I say go with a bit lighter tone.

I don't know though I think you would look darling with a short cut.

Fighting the urge to do that again. Not to get off the fun & games topic but my response to miscarriage seems to be wanting to drastically change my appearance! I regretted the cut afterwards. Actually I had just told her to trim it to shoulder length and she went nuts. My hair's currently a few inches below my shoulders.

Pfffft, whatever, you are a cutie and you know it.

Now that I've seen different lighting and the green eyes, I'm leaning more towards the red with some highlights. It's already a nice red, but maybe a richer one.

Yes I vote a deep red with some dark blonde highlights.

Oh, you are kind SL. I actually think my hair looks surprisingly OK there, considering (it amuses me that my hair looks nice on days when I see no one and like hell on days when I am going somewhere) but the rest of me looked and felt like death, LOL. That was on Monday. I have regained a smidge of color since then.

I vote dark, rich mahogany.

And maybe a massage. And a pedi. ((hugs))

I would recommend red highlights and lowlights. I had a lot of fun with that a couple years ago. I always see a professional as I am way too chicken to do color myself. I'd hate to have to call into work for a bad hair color day!

I want to dye my hair black and peekaboo blue highlights. Be a rebellious 30 something mom with me!

I don't dye my hair so I got nothing on that...just had to comment on how photogenic you are with no make-up!

I think you'd look stunning in a rich, deep auburn. I have used the L'Oreal Feria products and have had good luck with them.

I was going to recommend a medium auburn (which is what color I keep mine). However, based on the second picture, I don't think you'd see much change.
