Whoops...hit submit too fast...

"No team throughout the country has been more maligned despite more success than the Badgers," writer Will Leitch begins on Sports on Earth.

The Badgers have the second-most-tortured fan base of the remaining teams in the tournament, according to Leitch.

Whose fans have it worse worse? Virginia, coached by Tony Bennett, the son of former Badgers coach Dick Bennett.

Leitch continues on the Badgers:

"They've made the tournament 16 consecutive years, and have now made the Sweet 16 three out of the last four. Yet still no one ever believes in them, preferring to assume they can't score (not true anymore) and play boring basketball (never true). Bo Ryan is the most underrated coach in the country, but he's never made that Final Four. Badgers fans are intense about their team, and they've waited a long time for this. Here's hoping this is finally the year."

They're going to make it, USA Today says.

It's already done as far as the nation's newspaper sees it. At No. 6 on a list of bold predictions for the Sweet Sixteen is that the Badgers will make the Final Four.

Scott Gleeson writes:

"Bo Ryan has one of his most potent, gifted offensive teams that he's ever coached — led by forwards Sam Dekker and Frank Kaminsky and guards Ben Brust and Traevon Jackson. That won't be the key in Wisconsin reaching the Final Four, though. The key is on the defensive end, where the Badgers are always sound. The best offensive teams in this tournament — Creighton and Duke, for instance — are at home watching. The best defensive teams are still playing. If Wisconsin's Big Ten record says anything, it's that this offensively gifted squad can win when shots aren't falling."

I believe in you, Bucky!

Ain't that the truth! The ghost of Ralph Sampson still haunts UVA. Tough game tonight against Izzo and MSU too.

jrc, no one thought UD would get past OSU either... but they did. And past Syracuse. And Stanford...

Oh, bit of trivia. That Billionaire Bracket thing QuikenLoans had going? UD knocked out the *last* person who had a shot at the billion. He'd picked OSU to win. Well, he'd have had a shot if he'd remembered to submit his bracket...

Don't underestimate UD. They've surprised a lot of people so far.

Oh and Moo? Loooved the DDN headline. Knew it was a shot at OSU the second I got the paper. THE in nice, big 144 point type.
