While it was Houston and not Dallas, I went to an outdoor music fest the weekend before Halloween a few years back. Anyone wearing anymore than shorts and a t-shirt were miserable. Hell, I wore shorts and a t-shirt and left about 10 lbs lighter and sunburnt.

Spring has been a bit too mild in the Houston area this year. Historically speaking, that seems to indicate a brutal summer is coming, and "summer" here lasts into November as far as I'm concerned.

Anyway, not trying to discourage you from coming norabird. Just pack accordingly

What's up in Htown MOS? We're practically the same latitude, but it seems to have been a nice cool Spring here. Windows open stuff. Just beautiful.

jj, it's been very pleasant here. A little too pleasant really.

I'm actually sipping a cold one on my patio as we speak. Watching the Rockets game through the window, dog in my lap. You know, life ain't bad tonight at all.

Need to make a trip to Austin again soon, just cuz. If I do, best believe you'll hear from me, like it or not.

OK. I would love to be kept up to date on this G2G. My baby is moving to a Dallas suburb in June, his BD is in October and his mom needs to fly out to check on him at some point.

Let me know where and when!

@jjct - I knew if I held out long enough I could get a bed In all seriousness, I hope I can make it to Austin soon, work permitting I have any free time...Thanks for the offer, for real.

I will actually be in Dallas this Wednesday through Friday, leaving Saturday. It's a business trip so I really don't know what, if any free time I'll have, but just sayin.' I'll be in the Addison area for the most part, but we have a company outing at the Rangers game Friday night.

Yup, we got 60s here too with a break in the rain. It's amazing. I'll be driving into even cooler weather up in Dallas. I don't know what's going on, but I am all for it!

Hopefully we can meet up Friday. We shall see

Yes...BUMP

If this is going to happen we need to start making plans because I want to book at a particular hotel but don't want to wait too long for fear of them getting sold out due to the State Fair.

HT and I are definitely planning on hosting on that Friday evening. The house will be all decked out for Halloween. We can play pool, play darts, eat great good and hang out. And of course enjoy some libations

I even have an area with a wood floor great for dancing if Moo decides to show up!

Looks like Saturday is State Fair day.

Now our house and the fair are a little bit of a drive from each other. If people stay closer to our area we can take the train. If you stay close to the fair grounds it will be more of a drive to our house. Once we know how many people and where everyone is coming from we can pinpoint places for people to stay. Once I have a better idea, I can do some research on hotels.

If you keep asking people to give you the benefit of the doubt, they will eventually start to doubt your benefit.

I would be in favor of taking the train...it solves the traffic & parking problem nicely.

It's unfortunate that the area near the SF is "not safe", and I wonder how far away we'd have to go anyway to you know, be near and safe.

A hotel between Keller and the nearest train station? Or just 'near' the station w/in striking distance of Keller... would be ok w/ me...

Hey all,

Another option to consider staying at might be the southlake/grapevine area. It's a pretty straight shot down 114 from there to the state fair grounds. It may be kind of a longish drive at 30 min or so buuuttt... On the plus side it is a really really nice area. Lots of good shopping, about a bazillion excellent restaurants, several nice hotels, airport adjacent and about a 15 min hop over to our place for Friday night socializing.

If that sounded agreeable to most everyone I could start scoping out hotels pretty easily since I work over in that part of town.

Just wanted to throw that out there let me know what you all think about that idea.

That's cool with me too HT...

That's where that giant mall is (was?)...

Also - I remember the Gaylord puts on cool Christmas shows...

Sounds good to scout out.
