No words. There's a special place in Hell for frauds/liars, especially lying about serving our country.
Thanks for the heads-up, MH; much appreciated.

Thanks for sharing this with the community, MH.
Stories like this one, where everything seems so perfectly executed from the very beginning always cause me to pause. The early months of infidelity are always so chaotic and I cant help but ask myself how a person can act so decisively from the get go. Always seems fishy to me. Or at least in this case it was.

I figured his "military" training had helped with that perfect execution.
You're right though - too perfect to be true.
I hope this does not stop members from helping others on SI. Nothing to be embarrassed about.

Such a sad excuse of a human. Disgusting.

Because I’ve dealt with people in the system who lied so easily I just kept hoping this man was true. I was suspicious from the start because his language was too precise. It just makes us understand better the wayward brain and how easily we can be had, even those trained to deal with liars. All of us who answered did so with good intentions and that’s the best we can do. If that’s how he spends his time then that’s a sad human being.
Here’s a thought. Maybe he’s in prison with a lot of time on his hands.

Shaking head in disgust. I'm glad I didn't post one of the gazillion "congrats, you're handling this like a trooper!" posts he got. I'd be feeling kind of foolish now.
What got me, and I admit I was fascinated by his story and followed it up front.. was the precision and exactitude of his tale, larded with enough military bits to make it seem genuine to me. Real life is never this precise. Divorce is a slow, painful sloppy business loaded with anger, chaos and (often) mistakes and mis-cues. His story was never like that. He always had every danged thing lined up and answered before it was asked. That should have been my clue.

Remember the whole scene about him going to dinner with her and her parents?? The court martial, the neighbor that had been logging all the "visits" for him, the hot real estate agent that sold his house. I can't believe I fell for all of that!
It really did read like a well scripted novel.

Wow that's crazy. His story did seem well scripted but he had the detail of learning about the affair while deployed and then using military resources to get his ducks in a row before confronting her, so it seemed plausible.
