We're seven years out. First two years were serious therapy for him, and ever since things have gotten better and better
Today I thought I saw him delete a text msg and the checked his archived texts and there was one from a dead number that was suspicious

Just don't know if it's spam or if I have to go through that whole stressful thing of searching his phone and finding deleted msgs or what

I just searched the web on that phone number. It looks like it's probably a robocall.

Not sure if it's relevant but I have had a decided increase in spam calls and texts. At least once a day, often more than that. The texts are getting weirder and weirder like "hey, you left your necklace at my house? When you coming by to get it?" Heck, I even declined a Facetime call from some local woman running for office. Not technically spam but geez i'm bombarded with unwanted calls and texts.
Having said that, perhaps tell WH that from now on he shouldn't delete any texts.

My work gives me a background check service that matches names with phone accounts - I have to meet lots of strangers as part of my job. This number doesn't match any individual. It is likely a google voice account or robo dialer.

I would call it myself. I did that with my WH after finding out about his cheating, I went through his recent calls, copied the numbers, and very early in the morning called them. They were all work numbers and if anyone answered I hung up.
But my phone is registered under my mother's name so no one would know who was calling them since the last name is not my WH's.
If you want I can call it for you.
