Check it - Greenzy's got the rhymes.

(I just love when everything circles back to po-tree.)

And guess what ran behind my golf clubs when I opened the garage door today? Yo silver.....HELP!

Notthevictem posted 11/26/2019 20:09 PM

Silver is not here right now. I can offer you farts instead.

Chili posted 11/26/2019 20:35 PM

That'll work. I can get with the repellent thing.

Might I offer you a humane trap? Catching them is most satisfying! And a suggestion: see if any neighbors have an outdoor kitty, and borrow said kitty for an afternoon and keep them in the room with the mouse.

That's my plan - my kitty is missing her upper teeth, so I'm planning to "borrow" a neighbor's cat at some point.

Dearest silver:

I just love how you see things sometimes...makes me smile knowing what I do about you.

Suggesting the *humane* trap and then letting a cat have at it...well, you know - the dichotomy and all.

I know you're a big believer in the natural world and spirit of all-things connected in nature, but what I've witnessed of most felines with their meeses hasn't been pretty (or particularly kind).

Speaking of natural instincts and all, I think my mouse problem is at bay for now. I watched a friend's terrier over Thanksgiving and she done did the job quite well too. (My own hunting dog did not see the fun in this sport - maybe if I had thrown them up in the air and shot them or something).

Thanks for the giggle today. You are a good egg, silver.

You might well be my SI BFF, Chili

Yeah, I'm kind of a loon that way.

*cringe* I might be naive in this regard. I haven't actually seen a kitty eat a mouse before. Seen a snake do it (we had a pet snake in our classroom back in K/1st grade), seen the leftovers of the local community garden cat's enthusiasm in hunting poor songbirds... Sounds like you have seen it so... not recommended? I was more thinking of the kitty having a fresh meal...

I only recently heard that dogs hunt mice too! Did your friend's terrier eat the mouse, or just...?

Awww, thanks. That is really kind of you to say, and it raises my spirits when I am sorely needing it. Thank you Chili. For the record, I adore you too, and I'm glad I could make you laugh!

Well...there are probably lots more experienced cat people here, but I'm not sure for every cat that eating is always the first uh...step.

Did your friend's terrier eat the mouse, or just...?

The "just" part.

I'm just checking as I see the thread was resurrected.....

I have a cat that will catch mice, and take them to the kids bathroom and drop them in the tub where they can't get away. She has also been known to drop them in the toilet.
But that is nothing compared to what chickens do to a mouse. The good thing with chickens is NOTHING and I mean NOTHING goes to waste.

The mice this year seem particularly bad. I guess it's because it got cold so quickly, they are looking for any place warm.

Just remember when trying to be kind and humane that they reproduce at the speed of light, and they eat wires, so they really can do damage to your home, that puts you at risk for fires, and other detrimental things. They are also really smart, so setting them outside after trapped, they will find their way back in. Hell they recently taught them how drive little cars. Google it.

Good Luck Silver.

Good Luck Silver.

I'm gonna need it. *shudders*

My godmother won't call pest control until the entire unit is cleaned, because she says she doesn't want anyone coming over with the way our home looks now.

I lifted up the mattress and box springs. No mice fell out. So now I need to figure out where they're hiding during the day. Feeling overwhelmed and super frustrated.

steadychevy posted 12/5/2019 15:37 PM

Hope they aren't deer mice and/or you're not in a hanta virus area. Hanta kills people. I know of people who have died from it.

ETA: With that public service announcement I'm now the last poster.

Yep. I'm pretty nervous about Hanta virus. Need to vacuum again.

Chili posted 12/11/2019 21:08 PM

I definitely didn't want to be the one to kill *that* thread. Lordy.

Notthevictem posted 12/13/2019 16:43 PM

Me either.

I think you mean its a warm stinking farting world

Wish I knew how to describe the reaction my poor hands just had when I finally got around to giving them a dose of O'Keefe's Working Hands....

If it had a sound, it would be a massive choir all tuning to the "Mi" of "Do, Re, Mi" I think.

Notthevictem posted 1/9/2020 00:50 AM

Hmmm....

steadychevy posted 1/10/2020 05:41 AM

I was going to come in and declare Chili the winner which would also make me the last poster. Devious. Now I see NTV was already here.

Chili posted 1/10/2020 08:52 AM

Chevy: You are always encouraged to declare me the winner whether NTV rears his ummmm....rear or not.

Notthevictem posted 1/12/2020 00:07 AM

Chili, I see what you did there!

...in my rear view mirror...
