Bob and Doug are icons to be honoured, eh.

Snap!

Now we (one's enjoying a slight wager of limited to no value on selected thread killer's) have to recalculate the odds. We may have to establish rules! It feels like the thread is on life support.

***PMing your thread killer to post so that you are victorious is not allowed.

little turtle posted 2/10/2019 21:53 PM

Speaking of thread killers there is an actual thread killer thread in fun & games. Must be a few pages down now but the point is to kill the thread by reaching the maximum posts.

I can't find this. Did it ever go past Round 6? Cuz I found that one and it stopped back in 2016...

allusions posted 2/10/2019 23:41 PM

I have often felt that I've killed threads. Gets really frustrating when I put a lot of time and thought into what I want to say to possibly help someone and then I go back to see what other people have said and I find that thread back on page 3 by then, and yep, mine's the last post.

What really amazes me is how many posts some people have in a comparatively short time. I've been a member quite a few years and I try to post pretty regularly, yet I'm only at about 1500 posts. Then I see people who have joined just a couple of years ago with thousands and thousands of more posts than me. How do people have time to post like that?

Oh dear, has it really been that long since we had that thread active.... We'll have to remedy that.

Any other certifiable thread enders out there?

I've been known to kill a few threads in my time, also done some time in the psych ward and probably could get committed again without much effort, so I think I might fit the criteria (I know, I know, that was so bad, but I'm old and weird, and I couldn't help myself!!)

Apparently whatever I've been saying lately is not conducive to continued dialogue. Honest, I'm not actively trying to be the kiss of death.

I don't actively try to be the kiss of death either, but as I'm learning, people apparently don't like it when I ask a lot of (probing) questions. Which I know I can go a little, (ok, maybe A LOT overboard on) but still, I always thought asking people questions about themselves was most conducive to an ongoing dialogue. Apparently not!! My bad!!

If I had to guess I would say that at least half (and possibly even three quarters) of my post count is from doing Stupid Picture Friday and Song Title Game down in the Fun and Games forum

I probably respond to 5-10 posts per week on average. It takes me an exceptionally long time to compose my thoughts some days, so if I can respond to one post in a day that's pretty good for me , so I get your frustration when it ends up being the thread killing post!!

Now, Ceph, you know we Candylandians in the great white and frozen north are known for being very kind and generous people, eh. We only use Clear Off when feeling unduly attacked which will sometimes even degenerate to F Off. But mostly we're extremely placid but conniving.

Right now I'm shouting directives at Florida but the Candylandian genius doesn't seem to be getting through.

I trust I've not broken any of the unposted rules. But if I have "Clear/Off".

tushnurse posted 2/11/2019 07:49 AM

I don't know what the hell is going on here. But Bigger and I both made it clear several pages ago that we are the masters of the "Killing of the Thread".
So I don't know what you are all prattling on about.

psychmom posted 2/11/2019 08:01 AM

LOL! There is a name for it! All this time Ive felt so alone.

luvbug0915 posted 2/11/2019 12:30 PM

psychmom, not only is there a name for it but now there's a title at stake.

Notthevictem posted 2/11/2019 16:07 PM

I've always wanted a title.

DragnHeart posted 2/11/2019 16:51 PM

In the thread in Fun & Games isn't the point to be the one who fills the thread, the last poster? The one who does that is the "winner" and gets the 15 minutes of SI fame until a mod starts a new one...

Cephastion posted 2/11/2019 17:49 PM

That's why you're a lousy thread killer, Dragon heart. You always see the positives or what's just beyond the next horizon.

Too much positivity and hope and general feelgoodism!

You're just... You're doing it wrong!

Can't you just be truly miserable to everyone for ONCE?!

HA! If only you knew me in person! I may look ok on the outside but most of the time I'm a walking black cloud. So much bad goes on and just general frustration.

When I'm on here I am trying to be positive.

I still think I can kill a thread if I post photos of my pet tarantula

We are only on page five. Lots of time before crunch time for the title lol

tushnurse posted 2/12/2019 08:16 AM

Spiders don't scare me!!!
Now if you post a pic of the temperature and snow where you are, I may go running for the hills.

Hahaha. Minus 10 right now. Not sure what the windchill is.

Buses for most of southern Ontario cancelled. Storm was late but is here now. Strong winds, some gusts upwards of 80km. They say total snow amounts could reach 25-35 cm and be combined with ice pellets and freezing rain.

Yay.

If I could afford to go somewhere without snow the family would be on vacation until this crap goes away lol

Now I'm not telling you and yours to just "go all to hell and back again"... BUT...

I mean since you are a Dragon at heart and all...

Frankly, I never had a clue that Ontario was as close to living in hell as all of that!

But maybe you could use your very own, not-so-Frozen-ish Fortress of Solitude to sneak off to and thaw out your wings with from time to time if you can't afford to take the kids along...

There's also this place, it seems:

It says this about that little rainbow tunnel in Candyland (Canada): "8 Ontario Road Trip Ideas To Go On This Fall - South Eastern Ontario
Brockville Tunnel is the abandoned railway tunnel turned neat local attraction. The first railroad tunnel"

DragnHeart posted 2/12/2019 11:41 AM

Well my dragon skills aren't that great. The flame thrower idea is getting more tempting.

And vacation means tropics. Not a scary cave/tunnel lol

I'm actually scared to be in caves, underground parking lots etc. To many movies of collapsing shit and being crushed to death...Or monsters in caves.

Ok ya I'm a scaredy cat...
