So my XH is balding; has been for as long as I've known him. He hates it because it makes him look "old" (it doesn't). I've seen pictures of him from way before I met him, when he had all his hair---I think he looks better now, and I've told him so.
The guy I dated after divorce was also balding; he shaved his head because of it. I thought he was cute, and same thing as XH: I saw pics of him back in the "hair days" and preferred him without.
My brother has been losing his hair since his early 20s. My mother laments this as though he's disfigured (no offense meant) and thinks it is part of why he has trouble finding a relationship. I say nonsense! I think a lot of women don't really care about hair loss...is this true?

I don't think bald is better or worse. Some men look better bald and some look better with hair.
But to address your XH's issue, I don't equate bald with looking old. There are way too many bald young guys out there.

A confident bald man is incredibly handsome to me.
No one changes unless they want to. Not if you beg them. Not if you shame them. Not if you use reason, emotion, or tough love. There is only one thing that makes someone change: their own realization that they need to.

OMG JM is bald and I LOVE it! Love it! Makes me crazy, seriously. I love to feel his skin. I love to see... um, never mind.
Let's just say I am in the "Bald is Sexy" camp and leave it at that.

DS started to go bald at age 20, actually probably 19. He joined the military and just shaved it all off.
He just looks so bad ass - most girls love it. People touch his head all the time.

Trumanshow, since you asked: I was traveling last weekend and in the airport was a GIGANTIC banner advertising the local hospital's cancer treatment center. Featured on the banner, larger than life, was one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. She was bald, not a hair on her head, and she literally had one of the loveliest faces I've ever seen, bright blue eyes, wow. So hell yeah, it goes for the ladies as well!

*raises hand* H has been bald our entire relationship. In fact, he was bald before he even met me - by choice. I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! As for women, I think it's gorgeous and is the epitome of confidence. If I had a nicer shaped head, I would totally rock a bald cut.

Beautiful to me has more to do with the person than the hair or lack of hair.

Most of the men I have been attracted to have been bald - or shaved their heads because they were starting to lose hair. I think it's hot!!

Bald is beautiful. What I think is disgusting are men who are bald, or balding, and try to pretend they aren't with either a comb over or some other bad do, or even worse a rug. That is not sexy, and it screams low self esteem.
Now any guy that is balding, if they ask me I will tell them to embrace it, shave it, and be done. My H had a head of gorgeous thick wavy hair when we were kids. His hairline has slowly receded over the past 1/4 century, and in turn his haircuts became shorter, and shorter. He now shaves smooth about every 4 days. I think it is sexy, and hot.
I don't care for the guys who are balding that leave the sides and back, you know the ring around the head thing. Ugh. Really Those ear muffs keeping you warm there?
Bald, shaved smooth heads are sexy.

My Grandfather went bald at 19. Growing up he taught us that bald is beautiful. As he used to say, "God made a few perfect heads. The rest he gave hair."
WH also started balding at 19. I love rubbing his head.
I don't think being bald necessarily is what makes him hot, but it doesn't hurt him at all either. I think it's the confidence he has in being bald. It happened so early and he just accepted it.

IMO, some men can't pull off the bald look. As another poster said, it has to do with head shape.
A few famous bald men I like are Avery Brooks (Capt. Sisko for you Trekkers), Vin Diesel and Patrick Stewart (despite the "earmuffs"). Some men just look better without the hair, whether by choice or nature.

It really depends. Do3K can pull off the bald look, but he had a goatee (not a nice kept one) when he was bald (also the time of the A), so I don't like him bald. However, Vin Diesel...yeah, he looks good bald

GDM is bald with a small amount of fringe (kept very short). Very nice, and sexy as hell. Even sexier? The kick-ass, very dapper hats (nice ones from an upscale shop) he wears. He does the ball cap thing on weekends, but sports very dressy ones going to and from work. Swoon.

Clarrissa: Avery Brooks, mmmmm, one helluva handsome man.
And perfect example of better looking bald than when he had hair. Later seasons of DS9 were much improvement from earlier seasons, hair-wise!

Mo3K, if you like Vin Diesel, you *have* to see Riddick, that's the latest in the series. H and I saw it at the drive-in a couple weeks ago.
heartbrokenn, I agree. Avery Brooks looks much better bald.
