Obviously, he made a poor choice. Why he made THAT choice in dealing with what perceived as a problem, irrespective of the legitimacy of it, is not the problem itself. That's called begging the question. As like to say "Bad sex and depression drove me to a life of seagoing thievery and grog" is the same, and equally ridiculous.
