Too much to explain everything.
Reader’s digest:
In the ER for 35 hours. I shit you not. (Same problem my H has!). I have humor left if nothing else! 😊
They are concerned about sepsis. Also, giving meds that Google says are directed at c-diff. BP goes from way high to too low. Also, pulse races.
They have given him MiraLAX to help him go to the bathroom. What??? 17g of MiraLAX is what we give to him every day for maintenance. So the doc (beautiful, seemingly intelligent woman from Egypt, but a bit hard to understand ) says they are going to give him several large bags of serious - clean you out like Mr. Clean kind of stuff (my words) and then scope him.
FINALLY they have a room for us. A nurse practioner for the gastroenterologist comes in and I want to hug her! She is compassionate, no nonsense, asks questions, and LISTENS to answers. (I’m sorry to sound boastful about my knowledge, or critical of some medical professionals who know DIDDLY SQUAT about spinal cord injury’s).
Anyway, this woman did listen and problem solve, and within 45 minutes of speaking to her, my H was getting an endoscopy as well as scoping a bit into the small intestines. Also removed the NG tube which my H HATED.
Dr said the narrowing base of the stomach and the first part of the small intestine were both measurably widened, enlarged, dilated. Said he removed liquid and gas from those spots and did a biopsy just to test for Ciliac disease. Said he didn’t believe he had it, but just wanted to check.
Said his damage due to reflux was improved.
So, they continue to give him little cute amounts of MiraLAX but no mention of a SUPER CLEANING to prepare for a colonoscopy. I plan to ask about that next time the nurse comes in - to see if it’s scheduled.
My H says he isn’t aware of any scope, but thought the dr was talking about the big cleansing in order to recover the metal object. I saw the X-ray and it is clear as day. They say it should pass, but I’m concerned it could be impressed into the lining of the colon and could eventually push through.
At least he got the nasal tube out. And is resting peacefully.
So....way too much info regarding my H’s colon.
I’m staying tonight so I won’t miss the doc in the a.m. sometimes they come at the butt crack of dawn!
Thanks for hanging in there with me on this.
My “I believe in fairies” wish is that they find something wrong (not too serious) that explains the intestinal issues AS WELL AS the chronic, severe, abdominal pain.
Or...if not, that we can at least figure out the best answer for intestinal issues...
Or at the very least, retrieve the ring from his intestines, and realize it’s the Hope Diamond! It would be worth sorting through...well...you know!
I love y’all! ❤️
I’m trying to keep a sense of humor through all of this, but TBH I’m pretty scared.
Y’all are helping to keep me sane!!! 🥰🥰🥰
