Oh I'm sure they both meant it when they said "I love you"
But that's only because it would take too much time to say "I am awash in a sea of serotonin and endorphins, and my brain is flooded with phenylethylamine. There is a huge hole in my personality that you are temporarily filling by putting in so much energy into this relationship, and I crave continued validation and soothing until such time as you are unable to fill the ever increasing void within me and this relationship crashes and burns"

She said that she was traveling with her father on a train one day and asked him a question about "sex sin". (She was quite young at the time.) He didn't answer immediately, but said, "Corrie, when the train stops, I want you to carry my suitcase." (Which was full of heavy watches and equipment.) She said, "Papa, I can't carry your suitcase. It's too heavy for me."
He smiled and said, "So is the answer to your question. So I will carry that until you are strong enough to carry it."

Still Going explaining why his house might not be clean from a thread in Off Topic on if you would date a women whose house was a pigsty...
Kids increase your laundry load by several orders of magnitude. The clean clothes on the couches mean you can't get to the crumbs and wrappers til they're done, but you're putting off the clothes until you get to the counters and floors but the dishes need done first, crap need to run laundry again since the kids spent 10 minutes outside but then smeared jelly all over themselves once they came in, goddamn cat hair need to sweep, when can I relax I work 8 hours a day with a 20 minute commute, need to help with homework before any of this but if I try to multi task then they WILL KILL EACH OTHER so I need to sit there between them like a dour faced temple guardian reminding them to write their vocab sentences or the DOOM OF NO COOKIES will descend upon them, shit it's 5 need to start dinner OKAY PUT THE GODDAMN CAT DOWN no no no YOUR SHOES DO NOT GO ON THE CEILING FAN.... do not.. do NOT turn that fan on.. take your finger off that switch.. FINGER OFF... I WILL SELL THE WII TO HOMELESS CROCODILES FOR PENNIES ON THE DOLLAR IF YOU TOUCH THAT CEILING FAN.... do not.. do NOT turn that fan on.. take your finger off that switch.. good... omg the spaghetti is on fire how the fuck does spaghetti catch fire...
fuck it lets get happy meals and watch clone wars. shove the laundry over so I got a place to sit.

Uncertainone, in the wayward forum, eloquently summarizing infidelity.....until the last sentence!
Let's face it, affairs end marriages. They're designed to do that. Remorse after the fact doesn't erase the pain and destruction the choices made. That's a very big bowl of suck to swallow.

Your freedom from anger will come from detachment. From lumping it all up, past and present, into a big ball of bullshit...and rather than throwing it back at his head, just gently rolling it towards him and saying in your head, "Here, you can have this back, it doesn't matter to me anymore."
Responding in anger makes those bad feelings bounce right back...
Gently rolling the BS back at him leaves it lying at his feet where it belongs.
