Glad to see you are home, Cat.

I have no idea where Xena is or when she'll get home, her phone died. It's been about two hours since her last text.

They may keep the Guard there.

Dammit all to hell. I love Boston it's one of my FWHs and my favorate cities. I'm so glad that you're OK Cat, and everyone else's family members.

Imagine a ship trying to set sail while towing an anchor. Cutting free is not a gift to the anchor. You must release that burden, not because the anchor is worthy, but because the ship is.

So glad you're home safe Cat! Thanks for posting.

I wonder if there is still a threat or if they are just being cautious. I heard on the world news that people are being told to stay away from large groups in Boston.

They have no way of knowing if there is still a threat because they don't know the details of the attacks. Maybe we have gotten a little too complacent? After 911 we would have been on high alert for this, and actually, I believe we were. The Boston Marathon is always held on "Patriots Day" which is a state holiday, huge crowd and long standing reputation of being "the" marathon to run. Unlike the others, you need to qualify with a prior marathon under a certain time. Therefore it is competitive and just the fact that you "qualified" for Boston is a notch in your belt. You would find the highest concentration of people at the start and finish of the marathon. It was after the elite runners finish, so this was when the masses were finishing and their friends/family waiting for them. I find it horrifically ironic that most of the injuries were lower limbs, feet, ankles and legs blown off. To me, that tells me the device was on the ground, whether in a backpack or garbarge can. There was also one at the JFK Library, which again sounds like a political motive.

At this point, they can't rule anything out so they need to stop the movement of people in and out of the area. They will need to clear them all. A reporter said if he wanted to leave his hotel to report on the street, they won't let you back in the hotel. Everyone's in lockdown until they can get a better handle on things.

My ExH has volunteered at the finish line for many, many years. Luckily, he gave that up a few years back. He is, afterall, the father of my child. I can't tell you how many times we went down there together to watch the marathon. Just a wonderful day in Boston, typicaly nice weather after a long, hard New England winter.

They will find these bastards. And the Boston Marathon will continue.

My family and friends are safe. I attend college at UMASS Boston next to JFK Library. If classes are not cancelled, makes no difference....It is cancelled for me!

Now the main topic really is prayers.

Anyone else having 9/11 and Oklahoma flashbacks?

God bless those in need.

OMG! I finally heard from my friend. She has so many medical issues and the doctors on her specialty are in Boston. I wasn't sure if she was there today.

She's been home safe & sound taking care of her husband. Such a relief.

I used to live and work in Boston and know the block. I feel sickened with shock. I don't have TV but the photos are horrific. It's been hard to concentrate all day. Sending love to Boston and the injured and affected families and the emergency workers.

I want to thank all of you for sending out your prayers for all Bostonians. We need them. I'm in shock still. Numb disbelief. I've lived on the marathon route. I've worked on it. I've enjoyed wonderful times in the area that was bombed. From schooling to work to play.

Boston is one great city! It's people are smart, strong and loving. It's made up of all these little towns that unite it into one city and damn proud of it too.

If you watch the news footage and see the police and officials from the race RUN into the bomb areas to help, that is what Boston's finest are. True Patriots on our Patriots Day.

God bless us, everyone.

Cat, glad you made it home safe and sound.

cryingdaily, have you heard from Xena yet?

So many very sad stories coming out of Boston. Two brothers watching the marathon, each have lost a leg.

So many heroes. I saw so many run away when the bombs went off, but I also saw so many run towards the blast to go help, and not just police officers. Not to slight the officers because they are the bravest and finest, for sure.

curiouswiz, my heart goes out to you and everyone in your fine city. Just like NYC, this will just make you stronger and prouder. The evil doers won't win!

CD, have you connected with Xena?

I went in to the office this morning (of course, on arrival, I found an email from my boss telling all of us to work from home), and other than a greatly increased police presence and a greatly decreased number of commuters, it seems eerily normal here.

Xena got home at 6 this morning.

She called me on her way home. She was posted on the route about a mile away when it happened. She ran the mile with others in her unit to the location of the blast.

She's on standby to be called back but I don't think she'll hear the phone.

She had been up for 30 hours. When I left for work at 8:15, I stopped at her apartment. She was still in her uniform with her glasses on.....out cold on the couch. Didn't move a muscle when I took her glasses off her.
