Shuttle? Yes, please. There's construction going on in the fair park area so it's making driving/parking even more trouble than it's worth

even though I originally said I'd rather drive to the State Fair, it's looking more and more like the shuttle bus is the way to go. SO and I would like spaces on it, if possible. Thanks!

I'm flying in and won't have a car, so I'm definitely on board with doing the shuttle.

Caveat: what happens in the shuttle stays in the shuttle...just sayin...

Right now it's raining - we need rain! Extended weather forecast is days in the mid to low 80's, nights in the 50's. Looking real gud!

Ok folks, shuttle update.

I had originally gotten a quote from super shuttle, a well reviewed company I am a little familiar with. Calling today though the rate has now increased drastically. Not sure if the original quote was wrong or if the new quote is or if their prices have dramatically risen... But trust me, none of you want to pay the price. I think a kidney each was mentioned... I forget as I was suffering from shock at the time.

So I called around looking for a rate closer to the original quote. And as luck would have it I found one. Good news right? Bad news is that it's a company I am not at all familiar with and thier reviews aren't great. . Now, granted, all the negative reviews on them refer to airport shuttle service which is a different kettle of fish but still.....

Anyways, here are the deeets for anyone who isn't afraid of giving it a shot: 10 passenger van, $95 each direction so $190 round trip per van. So ten people per van $190 round trip works out to $19 per person (yeah math! Stay in school kids).

Personally I still think I would go for it even not knowing the company. Parking is tough round the fair grounds and cost $15 per car if you can find a spot. I figure worse case scenario is the vans don't show up and we just pile into cars the same as we would if we weren't trying the van service.

One other minor wrinkle though... As it stands now we have 14 people wanting to take the shuttle. They are ten passenger vans so that math (math again! Yeah!) tells us that: A. We get 2 vans and we need to get 6 more people. B. We get 2 vans and pay a bit more per person but ride in glorious spacious comfort with 6 peoples worth of empty space in which to stretch out and relax. C. We just get one van and four people are out of luck. I propose we decide which 4 by a series of death match fights with edged weapons. But I will defer to the wisdom of the group.

I will need to know within 24-36 hours so that I can either book the shuttle service or just call them to laugh and tell them to get stuffed. Plus it's gonna take some time to secure the edged weapons for the death matches....

No MH and DS??? Aww... That sucks.

Regarding the shuttle... not sure what to say. I'm going to be without a car so I either need to ride the shuttle or catch a ride with someone who is driving. $19 is fine with me, or a few dollars more each to make up for the extra 6 spots, because I'd be a sure loser in the edged weapon death match.

Or you guys could just divvy up the two shuttles equally so it spreads the load...and decreases the chance of having to ride with JJ.

If we need 2 shuttles I will put in extra to help out if it comes to it. I think It's absolutely worth it for the peace of mind, not having to worry about parking, and not riding with jj I am serious about the first 2 points anyway.

No DS and MH March needs to get here fast then.

For any folks already in the DFW area, I'll be here all week. Seriously, I'm here on business already if anyone wants to start the festivities early. I know jj is down

Ok folks, final update on the shuttle service. Did some more digging today and found the company on the Better Business Bureau website. Turns out they have an F rating with the BBB. Crazy! I don't think I've ever seen an F rating before.

Obviously, I therefor can't in anyway endorse using those chuckleheads, so it looks like we are gonna be carpooling it after all. Woes and I can fit at least 6 additional people in the minivan and I know we have a couple other people driving so we can work out the arrangements at my place on Friday night if that works for everyone.

Sorry I wasn't able to find a decent shuttle service for a better price, but believe me it wasn't for lack of trying.

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon.

F rating? Don't know whether to be pissed or impressed. That takes, uh, "talent?"

All good HT and WOES. We'll get it figured out. Where there's an SI g2g, there's a way. We're gonna have a blast no matter what thanks to you guys. Seriously, I speak for us all when I say thanks for all you guys are doing for us. Can't wait!

Alright ladies and gents! Just one more day! We sent out PMs for those on the for sure list. If you did not receive a PM but want to come, please PM either HT or me and we will get you the info you need!

We are really looking forward to seeing everyone. We will be sure to toast those that can't make it!

Just a heads up. Planning on trying to pre-purchase my fair tickets at the Krogers today. It's a whole $1.50 cheaper! Whooop! Where will I spend all that saved dough?

Mostly I just don't want to wait in line to buy them at the gate. If anyone wants me to pick up tickets for them while I'm at it just let me know. You can always pay me back on Friday or Saturday.

The day is almost here!
