For some reason I have a picture of Lynn Redgrave with the medieval iron chastity belt with that huge lock on it from that old Woody Allen movie.

Mel Brooks' "Robin Hood - Men in Tights" was what popped into my mind.

Just my view point because we didn't separate and are still together in a sense in a new marriage. Eventually the affair stuff does go away as a main focus. The shift becomes more independent on personal growth for both of you. If you continue with that, the marriage relationship (always at work with any relationships)grows naturally as well.

You fear you might let him down. That is a possibility for any relationship. Though that letting down would be due to incompatibility instead of cruelty and that is a big difference. He wouldn't most likely regret marrying you. He would regret not giving it a second chance. If you think he is a much more healthier individual than you were, I would follow his lead in this area. Just continue to focus on personal growth.
