Looking Forward, I am so sorry you are dealing with this- it must be terrifying.

My cousin had a seizure In Ontario and lost her license. But I thought it was for six months.

Also be aware if you want to travel out of country, you may have trouble with health insurance. If your H had a seizure out of country it would be considered a pre existing condition and he would not be covered.

If it is a one off, I believe you are ok after a year with insurance outside of Canada.

Wishing you the best and a speedy recovery

Update

SMY is getting better; he's lost weight, has lost his appetite, but he's eating!
He's lost his core body strength. He tries to do some yardwork and has to stop frequently.
He spent hours in restraint at the hospital and in the last few days has really felt the aches and pains, muscles very sore, etc., especially his back. I've suggested he ask for x-rays when he sees the doctor.
He's feeling "trapped" with his driver's licence officially suspended for medical reasons (got the letter in the mail today). He needs to be cleared by our family doctor; hopefully on the 27th, but reinstatement can take up to 30 business days. Meanwhile, I'm driving Miss Daisy.
Skan's death has really gotten to him and he is very aware of mortality; how random life can be, how it can be taken away in a flash. We just lost a lovely 87 year old parishioner so unexpectedly -- she baked the most marvelous pies and smy loved eating them from the centre first.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, SI community.

On a happier note, he spent the day watching our Toronto Raptors NBA Championship parade.
WE THE NORTH!

Prayers and hopes for good health heading your way.

Awe hugs for both of you. The best thing he can do is let his body heal and rest. Probably not what he wants to do though. Sending mojo and helping prayers to him.

Thank you for the update, lf. I've been told both by a doctor and someone who experienced seizures that they are totally exhausting and draining. That case was a grand mal and there was also an injury involved from falling when it started, according to a witness. The patient had no memory of the actual event or for a while after being in the ER.

I was asked to stay with the patient for several days because they should not be alone after that. This was a 20-something person, and I don't remember how long feeling like that lasted but rest was the doctor's order for that time.

I think I'm around the same age as SMY and I tell my doctor how much I hate it when he tells me, "Well, at your age....." for so many things, but it's true that we often take longer to recover. And I know the news of losing Skan really hit me, so I can imagine getting that on top of having personal health concerns too. Just seems sometimes things pile on. ((((HUGS))))

ETA: Not to mention how he is feeling about the license issue. Any one thing alone is bad enough. I'm so sorry.

I am so sorry. Sending you lots of positive thoughts and prayers. ❤️

..and I hope it's the LAST one... it could be related to 'sleep apnea'..??

now I'm jumping through all the medical hoops in hope of getting my driving license reinstated.

I wanted to extend a sincere 'thank you' to all the caring people who asked about my situation and sent their prayers and support..

Si peeps are the BEST...period!!!

Not looking forward to wearing a C-PAP mask to bed at night, if that's in my future???

Off to see the doctor for my EEG results..

Bye for now.

Well, you sound like you're well into recovery, and I hope I read you right.

Just a quick note: Breathe right strips may provide some immediate help. They work for me, and I've been diagnosed with mild sleep apnea.

I recommend them as an immediate step, until you get a diagnosis and treatment.

somanyyears posted 6/27/2019 21:03 PM

..thanks for the suggestion sisoon.. those strips may be a logical step towards a solution.
