I am in the office building right in front of where that happened. We are on lockdown until further notice.

Boston is my hometown & my sister is at the marathon today :( I'm desperately trying to reach her now but phone lines are bogged down.

NBC said that the delay between explosions...if done on purpose, is usually typical of trying to hurt the first responders in an attempt to hurt more people.

We heard the explosions and saw the smoke. The property management came on the intercom and told us that police had asked that we stay in the building until further notice.

It definitely looks like a bomb (actually at least two) and our building management called it "criminal activity."
I am on the 23rd floor above and back away from the explosion site. From what we have been told, our street is shut down and they are not allowing people to exit onto Boylston Street.
Scary stuff.

I'm still trying to reach my sister, she was just a spectator, not a runner. I, of course, am in the PAC NW as my husband is active duty Army but when I lived in Boston or when I visit (it's my hometown) Patriots Day was one of the best days of the year. Truly a festive day with the Red Sox playing & then the marathon. I have so many fond memories....
My entire family is trying to get in touch w/ my sister but know it's difficult as the phone lines are insane right now.
