Happy Belated Birthday! Both of you will sleep much better with the CPAP.

..crap...it's over a month with no wheels
@ sportsfan.. The mask totally sucks... pushes more air in than I want, so it puffs out my cheeks.. takes away my natural rhythm of breathing.. haven't lasted long enough to fall asleep yet..??
Lately it's been hot, hot, hot so the mask is stifling and unwearable right now.
I'll give the nose-only mask a try to see if I can tolerate it. If I can't even fall asleep within a reasonable time, screw it..
...and thanks for the birthday wishes people..

The amount of air should be adjustable. I actually had the opposite problem, wasn't getting enough, initially. Reschedule to have the air pressure adjusted. Better to take it down slightly more than you need and gradually increase it than to be blasted every night.

It depends on what kind of apnea you have. My husband’s brain forgets to tell him to breathe. He has worn a CPAP for years and is so comfortable with it that is soon as he puts it on and lies down he’s asleep. Mine is because my throat closes up. They could not get the mask tight enough, and the air pressure strong enough to Work so I sleep in a recliner and I do fine. You need to find out what kind of apnea you have

Hi smy, I just wanted to pass along that my child with chronic obstructive sleep disorder was first put on a nose-only mask and later, under observation it was determined that on that type of mask she started mouth breathing at night, thus was still not getting enough oxygen.
It was bad enough that she was diagnosed with polycythemia, where her body was so oxygen deprived her bone marrow amped up the production od red blood cells to try to carry more oxygen to her organs. Her Yale pediatric hematologist thought she might have cancer before they figured it all out.
She had to have a full mask after that. I hope the nose-only machine works for you, but please give the machines a chance.
Wishing you well, fingers crossed for no more seizures and I'm hoping you have a very successful nose-only CPAP machine experience.

..@ JD... I'm sorry that your daughter is dealing with this apnea situation. I'm learning that it is a widespread and common ailment.
Thanks for your kind advice and knowledge. If using the damned mask will help get my driver's licence back, I'll put up with it!
@ dreamlife... hugs we can never get too many of... thanks for the support, not just now but for the years we share here..

Glad to see you ar doing better.
How about the alien CPAP mask? Looks like one of the face huggers from the movies. I'm 100% sure Wh would wear that if he needed one just so he could freak me out. (Although he would risk me beating him with a hammer if I woke to see that alien thing on his face hahaha).

9 weeks ago....now again early this morning...
2 petit mal seizures at home, grand mal seizure in the hospital at 8:30 this morning...
Also broke his left shoulder below the ball joint, so in a tight splint for 6 weeks.
Haven't seen a neurologist yet; hopefully we'll get an expedited appointment.
The CPAP machine: smy wouldn't/couldn't adapt to full mask, then nose only.
Heading back to the hospital now for a couple of hours. In ICU for observation at least for 1 night, maybe 2.
Prayers please and mojo for healing.
Thank you
lf

I had seizures growing up. Mine were called focal seizures.
When my dr released me from his care ( I was off medication)
He told me to be mindful of how much alcohol and sleep I get. He said drinking and lack of sleep can trigger seizures. I started to have them again later in life( no alcohol involved) when I was having other issues. I came across an article that said an allergy to wheat/gluten can cause over a 100 symptoms including seizures. If you are not getting answer from modern doctors maybe explore some other possibilities
Of course I am not a dr just sharing my experience
